DMCA Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-24 · Effective: 2026-08-24

Mastheads respects intellectual property rights. We respond to valid takedown requests under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions. If you believe content published by a Mastheads-powered site infringes your copyright, contact us using the process below.

What we host

We do not host our customers' articles - those live on the customer's own site, or nowhere but their export. We do host the images the newsroom generates for an article, on our own CDN. If you believe an image we host, or content produced through Mastheads, infringes your copyright, contact us using the process below.

How to file a notice

Send the following to dmca@mastheads.app:

  1. Your full name, mailing address, telephone, and email address.
  2. An identification of the copyrighted work that you claim is infringed (or a representative list if multiple works).
  3. The URL of the allegedly infringing content on the Mastheads- powered site.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Our response

We review valid notices within 5 business days. If we determine the notice is valid, we will:

  • Notify the affected customer and instruct them to remove or disable access to the article. We do not host customer articles and in most cases have no access to the customer's site, so removal there is the customer's action to take.
  • Remove any image we generated and host for that article from our CDN, where the notice concerns the image.
  • In cases of repeat infringement, suspend the customer's Mastheads account.

Counter-notification

If you are the customer whose content was removed and you believe the removal was in error, you may submit a counter-notice with the same elements as listed above, plus:

  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located (or, if outside the United States, to binding arbitration as described in our Terms of Service).

Designated agent
