Partner programme

Promote a newsroom your audience can put their name on

If you have an audience, you can promote Mastheads and earn on what you send. You do not need to be a customer, and you do not need to run a website of your own.

The programme is open

Accepting the programme terms is what makes you a partner: there is no review step and nothing to wait for. You then earn 20% of what a customer you refer actually pays, held and released on the run 2 months later, accumulating in USD until the balance reaches $50. No partner has been paid yet - we will confirm the payment method and schedule before the first payout is due.

Two programmes, and you can be in both

This page

Partners

For anyone with an audience to promote to, paid in money: 20% of what a customer you send us actually pays, for up to 12 months. No customer requirement. You join in the portal by accepting the terms, and that is the whole of it.

Live today

Referrals

For our own customers, paid in article credits: 30% of a referred customer's monthly allowance, every month for up to 12 months. Every account already has a link.

The referral programme

Being a customer does not exclude you from the partner programme, and you are free to move between the two. What you cannot do is earn both on the same customer in the same month: while you are a partner, the people you referred pay you in money rather than in credits.

Who this is for

Newsletters and communities

You write to people who publish, or who are thinking about it. A link in the right issue is worth more than a month of ads.

Creators and channels

You make things about SEO, content operations, publishing or AI tooling, and your audience trusts you to be straight with them.

Consultants and agencies

You advise people who need to publish more than they can staff for. You do not have to be a customer to send them here.

A large audience does not need a different programme. The terms are the same whoever you are, they are published above, and the portal is the way in for everyone.

How we work with partners

The terms are published, not negotiated

The rate, the minimum and the hold are on this page and in the programme terms. You agree to them when you enrol, and nothing starts on a handshake.

You get a real account

Nobody can promote a product they have not used, so a partnership starts with access rather than a brief.

Say what you actually think

Including the limits. We publish ours; we are not going to ask you to hide them.

Disclose the relationship

Label partner links and incentivised coverage wherever your platform or your law requires it.

No spam, ever

No unsolicited bulk email, no posting where it breaks a platform's rules, no impersonating us. This is the fastest way out of the programme.

Our links record a count, and nothing else. No IP address, no user agent, no referer - so pointing your audience at us does not hand us their browsing.

Join

Everything happens in the partner portal: you create an account and accept the programme terms, and you are a partner from that moment. It has to be done by you and from an account, not by us on your behalf, because the acceptance we record is yours. The details we need to pay you come later, before your first payout.

Already a partner? The partner kit has the logos, the lines you can quote and the rules for promoting us.

Questions

In the partner portal, with a Mastheads account. Accepting the programme terms is what makes you a partner - nobody has to say yes to you first, there is no queue, and there is nothing to wait for. Joining is open to anyone with an audience.

No. The partner programme is open to anyone with an audience worth promoting to. If you are a customer you are eligible for this as well as the referral programme - the two are separate and being in one does not exclude you from the other.

20% of what a customer you referred actually paid, on every payment they make, for up to 12 months. It is a share of the real payment rather than of the list price, and it is computed after tax, because Paddle is the merchant of record and the tax was never ours to take a share of. Subscription payments only: a credit pack does not count. An annual payment is spread across 12 monthly instalments rather than paid as one lump.

Earnings from one month are held and released on the run 2 months later, and accumulate until they reach a minimum of $50, rolling over month to month until they do. It is a USD minimum: plans are priced and charged in USD in every country, so there is one balance rather than one per currency, and any payout is made in USD.

Two separate questions, and only one of them is open. Where the money would go is asked before your first payout, not at the door: we will ask for the legal name a payment would be made to, your country, your entity type and the address to pay it to, and we cannot pay you until we have all four. How it gets there is the part we have not settled. We have not chosen a payout provider, so we are not going to name a payment method or a date, and we would rather leave that open than name one now and change it on you later. The rail is deliberately loose: a payout run creates the obligation, a person sends the money and records the reference, and that reference is free text on purpose, so the provider can change without anything you gave us having to change. You will have the method and the schedule in writing before your first payout is due.

The commission on that payment is reversed. If it had not been paid out yet it is simply never paid. If it had already been paid out it comes off the next payout you actually receive, once and only once. If your reversals come to more than you are owed, the difference carries forward and keeps reducing later payouts until it is absorbed. We never create a negative payout, and we never deduct the same reversal twice.

Same link, different reward. The referral programme pays article credits, which are useful if you publish; the partner programme pays money, which is the point if you are promoting us to an audience. You choose which one you are on and you can switch: join here and the customers you send earn you cash instead of credits, leave and they go back to credits. A customer you referred pays you one way in a given month, never both.

A count, and nothing else. No IP address, no user agent, no referer. That is true of every link we hand out, and it is not going to change for this programme.

Yes, wherever your jurisdiction or your platform requires it. We will never ask you to hide the relationship, and we would rather you labelled it clearly than risk your own standing with your audience.

Say what you actually think, including the parts that are not finished - we publish our own limits on this site. What you cannot do is describe capabilities we do not have. If you are unsure whether something is true, the documentation is public and we will answer directly.

The conditions that apply, including the live referral terms, are in the programme terms.
