Frequent questions

Probably already answered.

What exactly does Mastheads do?

+

Mastheads runs a complete editorial pipeline for your publication. It finds the topics worth covering in your niche, drafts each article in your voice with a real named byline, runs it through independent quality and fact-check gates, attaches an on-topic image, and publishes to your CMS on your schedule. You configure it once, and it ships while you sleep.

How does the free trial work?

+

Signup is free — no card required. Your 7-day trial includes 10 articles on one site with the full editorial toolkit, same trial for everyone. When the week ends (or your 10 articles are spent), your newsroom pauses until you pick a plan ($99 Starter, $249 Growth, or $599 Pro). Nothing is ever charged unless you choose one — trial overage is hard-capped, so there are no surprise charges. If you want more articles during the trial, you can buy one-time $3 article credits that never expire and carry into whichever paid plan you pick.

What if an article is wrong or broken?

+

Claim the slot back, right from the article: delete a published article and file a claim within 7 days of publish, or pick the defect reason when rejecting a draft in review mode. Every claim is human-reviewed; a verified quality defect returns the slot as an article credit that never expires. Preference rejects don't qualify — articles count toward your quota when they're delivered, draft or published alike.

What if I exceed my monthly article quota?

+

Article generation pauses when you hit your monthly cap — nothing is silently billed. You can buy extra articles anytime at $3 each (one-time credits that never expire and carry across months), enable prepaid auto-top-up, or upgrade tier from your billing portal. There is no daily cap: your quota is one monthly pool, and your sites draw from it however your schedule needs. Quota resets at the start of each billing month.

Can I bring my own niche, voice, and sources?

+

Yes. From your dashboard you set a custom voice (or pick a template), tone, audience, your beats, preferred and banned sources, priority and avoided topics, and more. Every paid plan gets the full editorial toolkit — plans differ on volume and support, not features. The engine adapts to your editorial choices.

Which CMS do you support?

+

We support WordPress.org, WordPress.com, and Ghost, plus draft-only if you don't run a site. The article body, images, metadata, and sitemap are all handled, credentials are encrypted at rest, and the connection is tested at setup. You can switch CMS later without losing your voice configuration, and your content is always portable — pull it through the read-only v1 API or export everything in one click as WordPress WXR, Ghost JSON, Markdown, and HTML. Custom CMS integrations are available on the Enterprise tier.

Which languages are supported?

+

English, German, Norwegian, Swedish, and Dutch are live today — native grammar and idiom rather than translation, with the same quality bar held in each language. The same voice templates, fact-check gates, and named bylines apply whichever language an edition writes in, and different editions on one account can each run in a different language. One subscription covers every language.

Is content guaranteed to be original?

+

Articles are written from scratch using source material as reference, not copy. Every article passes quality validation before publish. We measure and minimize overlap with existing public content.

Do I own the articles?

+

Yes. Articles publish into your site and belong to you. No royalty, no licensing, no attribution back to Mastheads required.

Who is the author, and is it compliant?

+

Each publication has a named editor of record, and EU AI Act Article 50 disclosure plus source attribution are built in. Articles carry real, named bylines, and GDPR data export and erasure are available on request.

Do you offer Enterprise?

+

Yes. Every paid plan already runs multiple sites — Growth up to 5, Pro up to 20. Enterprise goes beyond that: uncapped sites and volume, custom integrations, white-label published editions (your masthead, domain, and branding), custom CMS targets, and SLA terms available on request. From 500 articles a month. Email us directly.

What if my niche has slow news days?

+

You set how many articles each section should publish per day. That number is the maximum — the engine fills it as far as real news allows, and on thin-news days it publishes fewer rather than fabricate. So output varies: some days a section is full, some days lighter. If you feel it has materially underdelivered for reasons within our control, contact us and we'll make it right, typically with article credits.

Can I cancel any time?

+

Yes. One click in the billing portal. Article generation stops at the end of your current billing period. Your data is retained for 30 days after cancellation in case you change your mind, per our Privacy Policy — and you can export your full archive at any time.

Can I get my content out?

+

Yes. Every article is available through a read-only API and a one-click export in WordPress, Ghost, Markdown, and HTML formats, with all images. The API needs an active subscription or trial, but your export is always downloadable from your dashboard, including from the cancel screen. Your content is never locked in.
