Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-06-27 · Effective: 2026-06-27
1. Summary
- Your account starts with a free 7-day trial (10 articles, one site, no payment method collected). Paid service begins only if and when you select a plan ($99, $249, or $599 per month). Cancel any time.
- You own every article we publish to your site. We do not retain rights. No attribution back to us required.
- We target publicly accessible content and do not deliberately bypass paywalls; known paywalled and aggregator sources are skipped.
- We do not publish prohibited content (see §7); it is screened out before publication.
- You must keep your publishing credentials current. If your site goes down or your credentials change, we pause publishing until you reconnect.
This summary is for convenience only. If anything here differs from the detailed terms below, the detailed terms govern.
2. The service
Mastheads is a content publishing service. We produce editorial articles and publish them to the site you connect, using the publishing credentials you authorize. Your quota, tier, and features depend on your subscription.
3. Account, billing, cancellation
Accounts are individual. Sharing credentials is not permitted. Billing is handled by our third-party payment processor acting as merchant of record, which manages payment, tax, and refund operations on our behalf. The 7-day trial is free — no payment method is collected and nothing is billed during it. Once you select a paid plan, monthly billing renews automatically at that tier. You may cancel from your billing portal at any time; service continues through the end of the current period.
4. Customer obligations
You agree to:
- Provide a valid site URL and publishing credentials (API key, application password, or equivalent).
- Name a real, identifiable editor of record who takes editorial responsibility for content published to your site, and comply with any content-labeling or disclosure obligations that apply to you in your jurisdiction.
- Maintain the legal right to publish content into your site (ownership, authorization to publish, etc.).
- Not use the service for prohibited content (see §7) or to defraud, defame, or harm any person or entity.
5. Ownership of content
Articles published into your site are your property outright. You may edit, republish, syndicate, monetize, or delete them as you see fit. Mastheads retains no rights in your published articles.
6. Intellectual Property & Acceptable Use
The Mastheads service — including all software, source code, models, designs, user interfaces, documentation, and the "Mastheads" name and logo — is owned by Mastheads (and/or its licensors) and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Your subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your own publishing for as long as your subscription is active. It grants you no ownership of, or rights in, the underlying software or technology, and no rights in our trademarks or branding. This does not affect Section 5 — articles published into your site remain your property outright.
You may not:
- copy, modify, translate, or create derivative works of the service or its software;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code or underlying methods of the service, except to the limited extent applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction;
- resell, rent, sublicense, or otherwise make the service available to a third party;
- access or use the service to build, train, or improve a competing product or service;
- scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the service beyond the intended customer interfaces and any documented API;
- probe, circumvent, or disable any security, access-control, or rate-limiting measure; or
- remove or obscure any proprietary notice.
If you send us feedback or suggestions about the service, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide right to use them without restriction or obligation to you.
7. Prohibited content
We will not knowingly produce content that falls into the following categories, and we may suspend accounts that attempt to bypass these limits:
- Sexually explicit material, including any involving minors.
- Hate speech, harassment, or incitement to violence.
- Illegal drugs, weapons trafficking, terrorism content.
- Medical, legal, or financial advice presented as professional guidance.
- Election misinformation or coordinated political deception.
- Defamation of identifiable individuals.
- Content that infringes a third party's copyright or trademark.
8. Quality, availability, and limits
We make a good-faith effort to publish high-quality, fact-checked articles. We do not warrant that every article is free of error. The service is provided "as is." We use commercially reasonable efforts to keep it available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
You configure how many articles each section publishes per day; this is a maximum, filled as real-world news availability allows, not a guaranteed minimum. The engine publishes fewer articles rather than fabricate when news is thin, so output varies day to day. If it materially underdelivers for reasons within our control, the Refund & Cancellation Policy describes the remedy.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the fees paid by you in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Mastheads harmless from any claim arising out of your use of the service, the content you choose to publish or retain, your lack of rights to publish into your site, or your breach of these terms.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms. On termination, publishing stops at the end of the current billing period, and your data is retained for thirty days for possible reactivation, after which it is permanently deleted or, where we are legally required to retain a record (for example proof of your consent to these terms), irreversibly pseudonymized so it can no longer identify you.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated to active customers by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or the service will be resolved by confidential, binding arbitration rather than in court, conducted remotely or at a mutually agreed neutral venue. You and Mastheads each waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action.
14. Privacy
Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect and how we handle it.
