Partner kit

Everything you need to promote us properly

The logos, the lines you can quote without checking with us first, and the handful of rules that keep both of us out of trouble. If you have not joined yet, the partner programme is the page to start on.

Your link, in one line

mastheads.app/r/your-code is the only link that gets attributed to you. Anything else sends us the customer and you nothing.

Brand assets

Two lockups, each in a light and a dark version, and they are the only ones. The SVGs are outlined, so nothing needs a font installed and nothing goes blurry at any size.

Mastheads full lockup

Full lockup

The mark over the wordmark. Use this wherever there is room for it.

Mastheads full lockup, for light backgrounds

Full lockup, for light backgrounds

The same lockup in the dark ink, on transparency. Use this rather than recolouring the other one.

Mastheads mark

Mark

The m. alone, for favicons, small placements and anywhere MASTHEADS would be illegible.

Mastheads mark, for light backgrounds

Mark, for light backgrounds

The m. on transparency. Light grounds only - it disappears on a dark one.

Please do
  • Keep clear space around the lockup of at least the height of the dot's diameter, on every side.
  • Use the light-background file on a light ground rather than recolouring the standard one.
  • Scale the SVG. It is outlined, so it stays sharp at any size and needs no font installed.
  • Drop to the mark alone when the lockup would be small enough that MASTHEADS stops being readable.
Please do not
  • Do not recolour, stretch, rotate, outline, add a shadow to, or otherwise redraw either lockup.
  • Do not separate the wordmark from the mark and use it on its own. Those are the two approved lockups and a wordmark by itself is not one of them.
  • Do not rebuild the name in your own typeface. Use the file.
  • Do not use the mark as your profile picture or channel avatar. That reads as us posting.
  • Do not lock our mark to your own so the pair reads as a joint product or a partnership badge we have not agreed.
  • Do not add an (R). The marks are filed and not yet registered, and (R) on an unregistered mark is an offence under section 107 of the Trade Marks Act 1999.

How to write the name in running text: Mastheads, one word, capital M, no space, and no need for a symbol after it. The all-caps MASTHEADS belongs to the logo and does not follow the name into a sentence.

Lines you can quote

Each of these is checked against the same source the programme terms are written from, so you can use them as they stand without asking us first. They describe the programme. For what the product does, quote our own pages rather than writing your own version.

Anyone signing up through my link gets 10% off their first payment.

A referred customer gets a discount on their first payment. It is applied at checkout and they do not need a code.

I earn a commission if you subscribe through my link.

The plainest true statement of the relationship, and the one most disclosure rules are asking for.

Partners earn 20% of what a customer they refer actually pays, for up to 12 months.

A share of the real payment rather than of the list price, computed after tax, because Paddle is the merchant of record.

Subscription payments only. A credit pack does not count.

The same rule the referral programme carries. Worth saying out loud, because it is the one people are surprised by.

An annual payment is spread across 12 monthly instalments rather than paid as one lump.

Founder-locked, and it is what keeps our exposure to one month at a time against a refund right that lasts the year.

Earnings are held and paid on the run 2 months later, and roll over until the balance reaches $50 USD.

Plans are priced and charged in USD in every country, so there is one balance and one minimum rather than one per currency.

Anyone can join, and accepting the programme terms is what makes you a partner. There is no application to be judged and no waiting list.

Joining is the approval: the terms tick enrols you, with nobody deciding in between. Payout details are asked for before the first payout, not at the door.

No partner has been paid yet, and we have not chosen a payout provider.

The one you are most tempted to leave out. Say it rather than let someone find out after they have sent us customers.

You do not have to use our wording. You do have to stay inside what it says, and the figures move only when the published terms move.

The rules

Short, and none of them are a surprise. They exist because a partner speaking for us badly costs us more than the referral was worth.

Disclose the relationship

Wherever your jurisdiction or your platform requires it, say that your link earns you a commission. We will never ask you to hide it, and we would rather you labelled it plainly than risk your standing with your own audience. The duty is yours and it exists whether or not our terms repeat it.

Quote our own pages for anything about the product

The lines above cover the programme. For what Mastheads does, quote this site rather than writing your own version - these pages are checked against the product, and a sentence you compose is not.

Say what you actually think, including the limits

We publish our own on this site. If something is not finished, you may say so. Honest coverage that mentions a gap does more for both of us than a review that reads as ours.

Do not promise a payment date or a payment method

Not to your audience, and not to someone you are recruiting into the programme. We have not chosen a payout provider, nothing has been paid, and no surface may promise a payment date until a payout has actually been made. The hold and the minimum are published and may be quoted; a date, a provider and a method may not.

Do not state a rate or a term we have not published

The published terms are the boundary. Do not negotiate a different rate in public, quote a threshold we have not set, or describe a tier structure - there are no tiers and no separate track for anyone, whatever the size of the audience.

Do not present yourself as Mastheads

No account, page, handle, ad or email that reads as though it comes from us. Do not use our mark as your avatar, do not sign off as the team, and do not answer support questions as if you work here. Send them to us instead.

Do not describe capabilities we do not have

If you are unsure whether something is true, the documentation is public and we will answer directly. Softening a claim costs you nothing; a wrong one is on both of us.

No unsolicited bulk email, and no posting where it breaks the rules

Not on our behalf, not for your own link. This is the fastest way out of the programme.

These sit alongside the Referral & Partner Programme Terms, which are the agreement itself. Where this page and that document differ, that document is the one that counts.

Your link

One link, one shape. Your code lives on your team, and the link itself is on the /referrals page in your dashboard.

The shape

mastheads.app/r/your-code

Replace the last part with your own code. It is the only link we attribute: a visitor who arrives any other way is a customer we cannot trace back to you, and there is no way to attach them afterwards.

It works whether or not it converts

The link records the click and sends the visitor on to signup. If recording the click fails for any reason, the visitor still lands on signup - the redirect is the part that matters and it never waits on anything.

It records a count, and nothing else

No IP address, no user agent, no referring page. That is true of every link we hand out and it is not going to change for this programme, so pointing your audience at us does not hand us their browsing.

Do not shorten it in a way that hides it

A tracking wrapper of your own is fine. A shortener that disguises where the link goes is not, and on most platforms it breaks their rules as well as ours.

The link is not the disclosure

Attribution and disclosure are separate things. The link tells us who sent the customer; it does not tell your audience anything, which is what the first rule above is for.

Something here unclear, or you want to run a campaign past us first? hello@mastheads.app. We would rather answer than correct.
